We scan objects, rooms, buildings, and sites and deliver the results as point clouds, meshes, and Gaussian splats. Capture is done on location with handheld LiDAR, structured-light scanners, cameras, and drones. Files are cleaned and delivered in the format you work in.

Small objects and parts

Structured light, up to 0.05 mm point spacing

Machine parts, fixtures, hardware, artifacts, and products up to roughly a meter. Output is a watertight mesh suitable for CAD, 3D printing, and reverse engineering.

Rooms and buildings

Handheld LiDAR and SLAM, roughly 1 cm accuracy

Residential and commercial interiors, mechanical rooms, and building exteriors. Output is a registered point cloud your modeler or architect can take into CAD or BIM software.

Sites, roofs, and terrain

Aerial and ground photogrammetry

Lots, rooflines, façades, and outdoor sites. Output is a textured mesh, orthomosaic, or Gaussian splat for planning, inspection, and presentation.

What we do

Every job includes on-site capture, processing, and delivery in the formats you specify. We also take overflow field capture from BIM, survey, and VFX vendors on a per-project basis; you keep the modeling in-house, we supply the data.

On-site capture

We come to the site with the equipment the job needs. Based in Long Beach, covering Los Angeles County and Orange County; the rest of California by arrangement. Roofs, ladders, crawlspaces, and occupied buildings are fine.

Processing

Raw scans are registered, cleaned of noise and stray points, decimated to a usable size, and checked for scale. Meshes are reconstructed and retopologized when a job calls for it.

Viewers and VR

If you need the scan to be seen and not just measured, we build the viewer. Web-embeddable models, Gaussian splat scenes, and VR walkthroughs on Meta Quest, produced by the same studio that builds VR training simulators for universities.

We reply with a recommended method and a fixed price, usually within one business day.

Capture

Most interiors are scanned in one visit. Objects can be scanned on site or shipped to us.

Delivery

You get a preview link to check coverage, then the final files. Typical turnaround is one to five business days depending on scale.

FAQ

Common questions

LiDAR or photogrammetry?

LiDAR measures distance directly, so it's reliable indoors, in low light, and on plain surfaces like white walls. Photogrammetry builds geometry from overlapping photos, so it produces better color and fine surface detail but needs good light and texture. Many jobs use both: LiDAR for the room geometry, photos for the detail. We recommend a method once we see the site.

What accuracy can I expect?

Structured-light object scans resolve down to about 0.05 mm. Handheld LiDAR interiors are typically accurate to about a centimeter over a room, which is adequate for as-builts, space planning, and most renovation work. If you need survey-grade tolerances for legal or structural purposes, tell us and we'll say whether the job needs a terrestrial scanner or a licensed surveyor.

What files do I get? Do you do Revit modeling?

Point clouds in E57, LAS/LAZ, or PLY. Meshes in OBJ, FBX, glTF/GLB, STL, or USDZ. Gaussian splats as PLY or SOG. Orthomosaics as GeoTIFF. We don't do Revit or BIM modeling ourselves; we deliver clean point clouds that your modeler imports directly.

Do you fly drones?

Yes, for aerial photogrammetry of roofs, lots, and sites. Airspace and site conditions determine what's possible at a given address; we check before quoting.

How much does it cost?

It depends on size, access, and deliverables. Small objects start in the low hundreds; a typical residential interior is quoted per square foot; sites are quoted per visit. Send the details and we'll give you a fixed number.

About

Digital Ubiquities

Digital Ubiquities is a Long Beach creative technology studio. Most of our work is VR training software for universities, including simulators in use at NYU. Scanning started as a way to get real geometry into those scenes and turned into a daily practice: a 300+ day project publishing one scan a day through 2021 and 2022, covering everything from door hardware to heavy equipment.

The studio is run by an engineer with degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering and twelve years in XR development, interactive installations, and fabrication. Our work has been juried at SIGGRAPH and awarded at AWE and MIT Reality Hack. The simulation side of the studio is at xr.ubqt.is.
